Key Details
The Role
You will teach English across KS3 and KS4 and take full responsibility for planning, delivery and assessment. Lessons follow a well sequenced curriculum with shared booklets, model texts and retrieval routines. You will mark to department policy, give timely feedback and use assessment information to close gaps. Short, targeted interventions will support priority students. You will build vocabulary explicitly, develop analytical writing and teach exam skills throughout the year. You will set purposeful homework and maintain calm routines using the school behaviour system with consistency. You will contribute to co planning, moderation and standardisation each half term, support enrichment such as reading clubs or theatre trips, and take a form group when required. Safeguarding and accurate record keeping are essential.

This is a ‘Good’ 11 to 16 mixed secondary that serves a diverse community and values high standards. English results are strong, with a 78 percent pass rate at GCSE in 2024. The school runs a clear behaviour system with centralised detentions and visible senior leadership. The curriculum is knowledge led with shared schemes and high-quality resources.
